Academies

The instruction of drawing, until it became institutionalized in Academies, was carried out privately in artists´ workshops. The process involved a series of steps in which the apprentice not only familiarized himself with the tools and diverse techniques of illustration, but also with the fundamental base of this teaching: the copy.
The models of copy evolved over time with regards to their complexity, beginning with illustration, then sculpture, and finishing with the drawing of the nude human form, known as academies, which were the culmination of apprenticeship.
The drawing of the nude masculine human form, a landscape in and of itself and devoid of gods and heroes, makes up the nucleus of this exhibition.
