Trees
“A perennial plant with a woody and elevated trunk that has branches supported at a certain level above the ground”. These words define and describe the figure of a tree, one of the principal elements of nature, and one that brings together not only the concepts of beauty and strength, but one that also reunites all of the necessary qualities of life: shade, shelter, heat, water, food... Protagonist of the representations of landscapes and the object of study in the instruction of drawing, artists throughout the ages and disciplines have dedicated, and continue to dedicate an extensive iconographic repertoire to the image of the tree. The drawings on display in this exposition bring together a series of these representations, in the form of anonymous designs from the 19th century. |
